Operations
The department’s largest division is the Operations Division, which is responsible for emergency medical services, fire suppression, mitigation of disasters and rescue activities. Operations are spread across five battalions containing 33 stations with an on-duty staffing of 211 members. Firefighters inspect commercial, multi-residential and waterfront facilities on an annual basis. In addition to emergency work, members provide a wide range of services to the community including blood-pressure screening, tours of fire stations and apparatus and community outreach.
Medic One
Since 1970, Medic One has been providing world renown Advanced Life Support (ALS) and pre-hospital emergency care through firefighter/paramedics stationed around the city.
Special Operations
Special Operations include Rescue, Marine, Hazardous Materials, Decontamination, Vault and Aviation partnerships.
