We are all shaped by stories. Stories motivate, inspire, and help us make sense of the world. They shape and define our communities. As we strive to reimagine government, it is important that we also reimagine how we, as government, tell and share stories.
At the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods, we put community stories at the center of our work by opening our platforms to community voices, commissioning community members to share their stories, and producing content in partnership with community. This work allows us to build authentic relationships with community and amplify the voices and experiences of the people we serve, particularly those in communities with a history of harm.
Below are highlights of some of the community stories we have shared over the last few years. You can keep up with all the stories on our Front Porch Blog.
