Climbing Water

In 2001, the Jackson Place P-Patch with the development of a parking lot in the same space. With the efforts of the Jackson Place Community and HomeSight, a portion of land behind the Davis Place Condominiums was held to build a new garden. The community completed a design and construction process in 2005 and began work on the garden in 2006. The Climbing Water P-Patch is larger than the original one lost in 2001. Located on a steep slope, the garden beds are terraced overlooking Rainer.

The garden also picked the name, in case you are wondering, 'why climbing water?' It comes from the fact that the Cedar River water pipeline, that supplies water to citizens of Seattle, is adjacent to the garden and it runs uphill! Hence the name: Climbing Water. The community continues to work on the larger open space around the garden planting native plants and creating a walking park for all neighbors to use.
