About The P-Patch
Fremont AKA Whirled Peas
The Fremont P-Patch began in 1995 as a vacant residential lot. Its first gardeners removed weeds, blackberry bushes, and assorted litter before building about 30 raised beds. In addition to fruit trees and one plot dedicated to food bank produce, the gardeners created a shade bed with flowers at their front steps and a flowers-and-herbs bed next to their compost bins. In 2004, gardeners installed a green roofed shed along with a new common area and entry arbor and fence.
