Green Lake Community Center, Play Area, and Evans Pool Redevelopment

Updated: November 15, 2024

Fall 2024

Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) is excited to announce that we have funding to resume planning, design, and construction for the replacement of the Evans Pool, Green Lake Community Center, and Play Area.  In 2020, SPR kicked off the project and completed a conceptual design phase. Since that time, the Evans Pool Building has become a Seattle Landmark, and the design team has been working to update the building layout to accommodate at least the preservation of the unique roof form.

Technical considerations, public input, and the need to preserve element(s) of the historic Evans Pool Building, helped the project team identify that the community center, pool, and play area will remain in the same general area as they are currently.

Thank you to the over 4,000 people who participated in our 2020-2021 engagements opportunities! The information collected in the engagements will provide us as a starting point for our current design. These opportunities included review of site options, building layouts, and conceptual renderings of what the building and activity spaces may look like in a new facility.

Stay tuned for more information about our next engagement opportunity to provide your input on play area design and the building layout. We anticipate this meeting will be in Spring 2025.
