Lake Washington Boulevard Renovations

Updated: September 13, 2024

Fall 2024

Thank you to all who shared their feedback on our design concepts. Throughout the spring and summer, we conducted our latest round of community engagement online and in person to receive input from community members who live, visit, and travel on Lake Washington Boulevard.

This summer, we reviewed and summarized your input from the Lake WA Blvd Design Concepts Survey, community/neighborhood meetings, and other outreach we conducted in the spring. You can learn more in the Outreach Summary for the Lake Washington Boulevard Renovations Project

Next Steps

Thanks to the matching funds awarded by the Washington State Transportation Improvement Board (TIB)’s Complete Streets Grant, we will be installing the first phase of improvements as soon as this Fall 2024 (see anticipated construction schedule below). Additional project elements are anticipated to be installed in the summer of 2025.

See below for the project snapshot map:

Project Description

In partnership with the Seattle Department of Transportation and the community, Seattle Parks and Recreation is leading and managing the implementation of improvements to Lake Washington Boulevard to help promote pedestrian and bicycle use and increase safety for everyone who visits and travels along Lake Washington Boulevard.

Informed by the Short-Term Recommendations in the Lake Washington Boulevard Visioning Process and Recommendations Report created by the Lake Washington Blvd Task Force, the Lake Washington Boulevard Renovations Project aims to improve sidewalks and pedestrian paths to be ADA-compliant and increase safety by adding stop signs, speed humps, raised crosswalks, and other traffic calming infrastructure. In this project phase, Seattle Parks and Recreation will not be installing a dedicated bike lane.
