Leschi South Marina Wave Attenuator and Facility Improvements
Updated: March 5, 2025
Spring 2025
The project design is currently ongoing with respect to environmental and other permitting and utility requirements.
The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) has added a new requirement for shoreline restoration to the project, which is not included in the video below. Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) has worked with the community to minimize visual impacts, and WDFW approved those changes.
The US Army Corps permit is still pending, but we have been told that issuance is very close. In-water work cannot start until the permit is issued, and no in-water work may be performed until Summer 2025 at the earliest.
Upland utility work should start in Spring 2025, pending on a Notice to Proceed (NTP) from the state grantor.

Location
Leschi South Moorage; 100 Lakeside Ave S.
Budget
$7.913 Million
Schedule
Upland Utility Work: Fall 2024 - Spring 2025
Marine Construction: Summer 2025
Project Description
This project will remove the existing timber fixed pier and adjacent floating dock, supported by creosote treated piles, it is nearing the end of its useful life. In addition, the pipe pile breakwater does not protect the marina from wave action and will be removed. Once these facilities are removed, the project will install a large floating breakwater with a boat sewage pump out facility, that will provide transient boat moorage and public access. There is currently no public transient moorage or boat sewage pump out in this part of Lake Washington and the existing dock is not accessible to all ages and abilities. Benches and a kayak rack will be included. In addition, the project will also employ divers to clean up trash on the bottom of the lake under the marina and enhance the shoreline. The removal of creosote from the water will benefit the aquatic ecosystem and providing a sewage pump out facility, will help keep Lake Washington clean.
