Soundview Playfield Renovation – RESTARTED – 2020 Hold Removed At Permit Renewal & 100% Bid Intake

In the summer of 2020, the City of Seattle turned its focus to essential functions to address the pandemic and economic crisis, which required a significant reprioritization of resources.  Seattle Parks and Recreation suspended some capital project work including this project.

This project is a conversion of an existing natural turf playfield to an all-season multi-sport synthetic turf playfield with lights and associated accessible pathways and park amenities.

Over the next year we will be updating the prior 100% bid documents, re-estimate of engineers construction cost estimate, renewal of construction/drainage permit, and messaging community and playfield stakeholders.

This project includes installation of synthetic field surfacing, lighting, ADA access and site improvements for the lower playfield. Seattle Parks and Recreation is investing in state-of-the-art synthetic turf systems that are safe, playable and durable. Additionally, we are investing in the highest quality energy-efficient field lighting which minimizes spill light and glare off the field while providing performance recreational light.
