Georgetown Playfield Synthetic Turf Replacement

Summer 2022 Update

Construction for the turf replacement project began in June 2022 and we anticipate the project wrapping up in late August/early September. Here are a few construction photos.

Seattle Parks and Recreation conducted condition assessments on all of our synthetic turf fields in 2018 and the results of these assessments informed both immediate maintenance action on the part of our parks resources and turf crews as well as the order in which the projects were funded for replacement. Seattle Parks and Recreation is investing in state-of-the-art synthetic turf systems that are safe, playable, and durable. We continue to lead the way to developing and installing alternate synthetic turf field design sections/materials.

This project will replace the aging synthetic turf at Georgetown Playfield. This will include the removal of the old ‘worn out’ synthetic turf and address any structural repairs to curbing, sub-subsurface, and drainage. 2022 synthetic turf systems will be installed for recreational play.

Budget

Real-estate Excise Tax II provides $1.7 million for planning, design, and construction.
