What’s happening now?

Join us for a virtual public meeting on Thursday, March 30!

We are working to create safer options for people walking, rolling, biking, and driving through SODO and between Georgetown and Downtown. Our design for a protected bike lane and other safety improvements reached 30% milestone and reflects some of the suggestions we heard from the community. Please join us to learn more!

Project Description

Seattle has a Bicycle Master Plan (BMP) which provides a framework for improving the bicycling environment throughout the city. The BMP recommends a protected bike lane connecting Georgetown to Downtown as the final link in a system of regional bike trails including the Green River Trail and South Park to Georgetown Trail that provide north-south bike travel for communities between Seattle and South King County. The new bike lane will also create connections to transit, linking Georgetown and South Park to the regional light rail network.

We are currently studying two route options for this bike lane: Airport Way S and 6th Ave S.

Project Goals

  • Enhance safety for all roadway users
  • Improve access and travel options from downtown Seattle to Georgetown and South Park
  • Retain as much parking as possible along the corridor
  • Provide a comfortable and predictable bicycle connection between Georgetown, South Park, SODO, and Downtown
