STREETS | Queen Anne Area Upgrades
Crossing Upgrades
Project Description and Goals:
Multiple crossing locations along Queen Anne Ave N experience high pedestrian and vehicle volumes. Marking crosswalks improves visibility, and installing curb bulbs shorten crossing distances, make pedestrians more visible and calms traffic.
Project Solution(s):
Install a curb bulb on the northeast corner of 3rd Ave W and W Galer St
Mark crosswalk at 6th Ave W and W Crockett St, north crossing
Mark crosswalk at Queen Anne Ave N and W Howe St, north crossing
Construction was completed in July 2018.

STREETS | 4th Ave N, Raye St and Queen Anne Dr
Crossing Upgrades
Project Description and Goals:
On the north end of Queen Anne Dr, a large, 7-way intersection presents a tricky situation for all travelers making their way to or under, the SR-99 Aurora Bridge. Large swathes of pavement combined with a lack of crosswalks and ADA ramps makes this a unique and challenging space. We're modifying it to enhance safety and improve predictability.
Intersection improvements are being designed under the Your Voice, Your Choice program and we’re partnering with the SDOT's ADA Program to complete implementation.
Project Solution(s):
Install a raised crosswalk
Install a curb bulb
Add ADA accessible curb ramps
Trim landscaping
Construction was completed in November 2021.

STREETS | 1st Ave N and Thomas St
Crossing Upgrades
Project Description and Goals:
The intersection of 1st Ave N and Thomas St experiences extremely high pedestrian demand and vehicle traffic due to its proximity to the Seattle Center. The intersection lacks a signal and marked crosswalk to assist pedestrian crossings. Adding a marked crosswalk and crossing beacons enhances safety for people walking, biking and driving.
Project Solution(s):
Install a marked crosswalk on the north side of 1st Ave N and Thomas St
Install a pair of crossing beacons
This project has been cancelled in lieu of the Seattle Center Arena Project Community Benefits package. Please check the Seattle Center Arena project website for the latest updates.
