North Transfer Station Odor Evaluation Project Open House
SPU invites our North Transfer Station neighbors to attend an open house to share what we’ve learned and our plan to minimize odors originating at the transfer station.

North Transfer Station
The North Transfer station is located in the Wallingford neighborhood. The facility is designed to handle waste more efficiently and safely, providing more opportunities to recycle. We are working to improve odor issues at the North Transfer station. Get updated information on the odor improvement project (PDF).
If you are making an odor complaint via email or phone, please include the following information to help us improve our operations: 1) date and time of odor, 2) approximate street address where odor was noticed, and 3) a general description of the odor.
Station location
1350 N 34th St, Seattle, WA 98103 (Find on Google Maps)
From Interstate 5 (either the northbound or southbound lanes):
- Take the 45th Street exit.
- Drive west on 45th Street to Stone Way North.
- Turn left at Stone Way North.
- Turn left at North 35th Street.
- Turn right at Wallingford Avenue North.
- Turn right at 34th Street.
- The entrance to the North Station is on the right.
What's accepted
Use our Where Does it Go? tool or flyer to see where to dispose of your materials. Additional items are accepted (no charge) at the Recycling and Reuse Building located at the North Transfer Station.
Plan your trip to avoid waiting
- The busiest times are Monday mornings and Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays generally have the least number of customer visits.
- Commercial garbage collection trucks generally use the station from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays.

How to pay
Fees can be paid using cash, check, Visa, or MasterCard. Make checks payable to "City of Seattle, Dept. of Finance" and have valid ID.
Hazardous household materials
The North Transfer station does not accept household hazardous waste. The North Household Hazardous waste facility is located at 12550 Stone Ave. N. (one block east of Aurora Ave. N.)
- Hours: Sunday - Tuesday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
- Closed on July 4, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Years Day.
- No appointment needed.
- There is no fee for hazardous waste disposal.
